How To Use Coffee Grounds As Fertilizer

Last Update: September 28, 2022

Repurpose used coffee grounds as a fertilizer for your plants.

You can actually use coffee grounds in your garden in a few ways. Composting coffee grounds will add nitrogen to your compost pile. The proper ratio of nitrogen to carbon in your compost pile will speed up decomposition.

As fertilizer, coffee grounds help improve the composition of your soil. This makes for better drainage, aerates the soil and helps your plants soak up more water. Because coffee grounds are considered organic material, some people also say that coffee will attract more earthworms and other beneficial microorganisms.

Some gardeners also claim that coffee grounds help repel slugs and other insects from your plants — an added bonus!
